From remote corners of history
I sing archaic news from the edge of the swamp
Why I'm here is a mystery

Barbaric Yawp is a unique amalgam of funk, rock, and jazz. The original compositions combine the looseness and freedom of a jazz quartet, Latin and African polyrhythms, the sweet sound of soul, and bebop style unison lines all delivered with barbaric doses blues and rock.
