Axioms by CRYM
CRYM's first official album in collaboration with DJ Triple M, Axioms combines personal reflections and revelations, social and psychological themes, and somewhat Dadaistic imagery into what now sounds like an incredibly pretentious original LP. Employing deft wordplay, varied rhyme schemes, and creative, abstract metaphors, the only thing better executed than Axioms's lyrics are opposing rappers.
The beats, composed by Muscle Man Max aka DJ Triple M, complement CRYM's lyrical style and flow and reflect Triple M's extensive musical background with no previous forays into rap/hip-hop. Rather than sounding basic and novice, however, the instrumentals represent as fresh a take on the musical aspects of the genre as the lyrics do the content aspect. A phenomenal talent in every effort he's shown the world thus far under a myriad of monikers, Max Loebman's production is at least half of Axioms's battle.
Ironically, it seems to be Axioms which might earn CRYM the self-aggrandizement that abounds in his first two mixtapes, Off the Spectrum and Street Robot (available for free download on www.soundcloud.com/crym/sets ). All proceeds from album and track sales help fund the Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education charity.
