Greatest Failures by Baby Scream

Greatest Failures is a brilliant place to start for those who have never heard the band before, as it truly does include some of the bands finest songs such as, Mars, Ghosts Of Valerie, Morning Light, Hit & Run and the brilliant heart felt Aching Eyes.
So laid back and relaxed, yet tight and passionate at the same time, an unbelievable achievement in my humble opinion. 10/10 - Sinister Angels Realm (U.K.)

"Greatest Failures" - ironically - is of tremendous credit and testimony to the talent of: Juan Pablo Mazzola. Hailing from Bueno Aires, Argentina, Baby Scream has been flying the power pop flag for the past decade or so, delivering premier Beatlesque goodness that fans of the 90s Pop Underground would have no problem appreciating. The sardonically-titled Greatest Failures compiles some of Baby Scream’s finer moments (“Slut”, “Mars” and “Morning Light” amongst them) and provides a good starting point. Juan Pablo Mazzola, aka Baby Scream, has chanelled the gentle side of John Lennon throughout his career, and the best of these sounds can be heard on the sardonically titled new CD by Baby Scream, 'Greatest Failures'. In my opinion, the CD is quite a success, and although most of the tunes are gentle, Mazzola can spew vitriol when he wants to as well as Mr. Lennon could, as evidenced by the opening track, 'Slut'. Juan Pablo Mazzola has had enough releases as Baby Scream to warrant his first-ever compilation, which he's self-deprecatingly titled Greatest Failures. Mazzolla always finds a way to get his vocals upfront, even when the band lets rip in a track like Every Day (I Die A Little Bit). With a sharp eye for his daily surroundings, he can tell a full story within three minutes or less. Throughout the years, this Argentinian band, centered around main man Juan Pablo Mazzola, who has worked alongside such heavyweights as former Alice Cooper and Slash’s Snakepit guitarist/vocalist Glen Dover and producer Muddy Stardust, and most readily recognized for his work with L.A. Guns. Baby Scream’s new compilation effort highlights a selection of noteworthy tracks from across the group’s catalog.
Apparently always able to craft attention-striking monikers, Greatest Failures offers fifteen songs that alternate between melodic acoustic rock to lighthearted power pop.
Examples of the former include “Morning Light”, a song propelled by female vocal harmonies and soulful synthesizers, and the reflective “Away”, whereas “Every Day (I Die A Little Bit)” abruptly disrupts the album’s laid back character through crunching chord progressions and compelling percussion.
These unexpected mood changes are infrequent, however, which allows Greatest Failures to largely transition from one song to the next with ease. Perhaps the sole exception here would be “The Ghosts Of Valerie”, with a guest appearance from Eric Dover, whose vocal talents surface during the song’s refrain and articulate arpeggios erupt throughout the verses, leading up to a climatic bluesy solo.
For fans of eccentric acoustic guitar rock with the occasional burst of prominent power pop, the recently released Greatest Failures compilation album from Baby Scream comes warmly recommended, and will leave some listeners wondering: “If this is the best of their failures, what awaits in their successes?” - Guitar International (U.S.A.)

Baby Scream is a music project orchestrated and led by Juan Pablo Mazzola, the project was conceived in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2002. Juan has worked with a multitude of producers such as, Sebastian Rubin (Grand Prix), Rino Rafanelli (Sui Generis, Color Humano), Muddy Stardust (Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Col. Parker) and Nick Schinder (The Child, Deep River Running).
