This recording is part of the project run by Jo Sandow called Music In The Distance. Some of the most ground-breaking music in the world was conceived in isolation. And much of that recorded with only a small home studio; maybe just an iPhone. Music in the Distance is a semi-live feed of home recordings, demos and musical explorations happening around us, in the distance, during self-isolation and quarantine.
"I was inspired by cycling through an empty Amsterdam, on my way to the studio. It was a surreal feeling as it was one of the first days that people collectively stayed indoors over here. On the bike, I was listening to acapella music from Cameroon, and I decided to go plunderphonic, layering synth melodies, and field recordings over the vocal piece."
