The Nights by Asuka Kakitani
The Nights is a collection of solo piano pieces reflecting moments of contemplation and transformation. From the quiet magic of the first snowfall (The Night of the First Snow) to the restlessness of sleepless hours (The Scattered Night), from the anticipation of change (The Night Before Flying) to the life-altering moment my daughter was born (The First Night I Held Her), these compositions capture fleeting yet profound experiences. Some Purple Night takes its name from a phrase my daughter assembled with fridge word magnets—a small, luminous fragment of imagination that lingers like a dream.
Together, these pieces offer an intimate glimpse into my inner world, where memory, emotion, and sound intertwine.
