I picked up this sample pack by Max Alper a while back https://peretsky.bandcamp.com/album/mega-sample-pack-out-in-the-back and really enjoyed the essay at the beginning, particularly one section about listening to your environment. Max talked about putting a microphone out your window and getting a closer listen of your surroundings. I liked this idea, so I borrowed my brother-in-law's Roland R-07 and gave it a go.
