I slept, I awoke.
To ask any more,
Would undo the kindness,
Which we both spoke of.
She said, yesterday,
"Drill down any soul,
See what it is made of.
Garnish it in self-love."

And what it seemed,
All grain is etched.
Time mumbled bored.
We both crept.

I cough, she awakes.
Cold tiles. Shower stalls.
Water drowns all our hope.
Coffee cups help us cope.
She said, "follow me,
To the place where I am sure."
Pockets bulge with silence.
Clocks tick a shyness.

And what it seemed,

I talk to myself,
