The crew’s passed out, but we’re still airborne. The steward’s bleak, her face forlorn. No way to steer, no way to warn, and none of us has time to mourn the last season at last.

Abandoned hope long ago. Sealed away a fool’s escrow. A pot of gold but no rainbow. Swept away by derecho.

Financiers and demagogues hedge their bets in permafrost. A selfish game, a zero sum. Carbon cycle overcome. This is the last season at last.
