Lyrics

One! Two! Three! Four! One! Two!

[verbal expression]
Yes! This is my home! (It's my home!), this is where I take off my dirty clothes and wash my face and do my stupid rituals
And if you stick around, I could tell you all about it and show you how it looks and how it feels inside
We could drink some vegan hot chocolate, and share our thoughts and ideas while taking a stroll beside the piles of used and unused stuff, or watch a TV show, or a long forgotten film,
but to be perfectly honest, I'd much rather you pick me up in your automobile, and we can slowly cruise around town together while listening to some tunes!

[thoughts]
Yes, this is my home, it's where I wake up and fall asleep
And watch episodes of Kenan and Kel, and never get bored or discontent
You're welcome to join in my humble den, I'll show you around and upside down
But honestly I would rather go out, driving around this peaceful town

Yes! Driving in your car!
To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die

And if a heavy vehicle kills both you and me
To die by your side is absolutely what I want

Early morning, headlines in papers; a truck driver arrested for DUI
After crashing into a Hatchback car, a couple were killed so young
He's facing 13 years in prison, and is required to complete a substance abuse treatment program
But we are both ghosts, we're just ghosts!
Doing whatever we want and having a great time

And sometimes it's winter
And sometimes you're blue
No matter the weather
In any shade or hue keep loving you

And now we're learning to be lighter than air, and let go of all worries and fears
And now we're getting to know this nice community of ghosts
They are mostly nice, except for Stan who's kinda rude and talking too much
Let's hold hands and slowly walk away from him

And sometimes it's winter
And sometimes you're blue
No matter the weather
In any shade or hue keep loving you

...shade or hue keep loving you

The song's composition (without the lyrics yet), except the "and sometimes it's winter" parts, was born on 25th August 2019 (you figure out how). From the get go I didn't want this song to have just another normal vocal melody for the verses, and thought of a fast, hyperactive kind of talking instead. A high pitched kinda voice seemed to be fitting both the hyperactivity and the sound texture of the other instruments on this track, and to achieve this I actually recorded my vocals on a slowed down version of the track (at 143 bpm) before speeding it up again to its original bpm (170). Then a "normal" vocal melody popped into my head anyway so I decided to have that as well, at the same time, singing something similar but slightly different.
The "and sometimes it's winter" parts were starting to take shape on 15th June 2020.
I think the sound of this track was influenced by some trending lo-fi chiptune-sounding tracks, specifically Great Moves! Keep it up! by Echorobot which I remember I just stumbled upon at that time.

"He's facing 13 years in prison..." - it was initially written (and recorded) as "18 years", on 21st October 2023, before I decided it's too extreme of a punishment which stands in dissonance with the cheerful way these lines are sung, so I rerecorded this line with "13 years" on 30th April 2024 and replaced it in the mix.
