"It’s obvious the band is going for some pure shock value, with it’s… very attention-grabbing album cover that you will probably never be able to unsee ... Their sound finds its own on the fringes of disco (though one song plunges deeply into that sound), a pinch of house, a dash of funk and a lot of electro. The synths are backed up by sexy bass lines and vocals that are so pitch-shifted and distorted that they more often serve as instruments in themselves ... The first side, though composed of three tracks, feels like one extended jam, though the song divisions are pretty clear ... Where the first side was about songs weaving into each other, the second side is about sharp contrast. It opens with “Taste the Beast,” the only song where the vocals are clear as a bell. It’s that way for good reason; the vocals are now pitch-shifted into the very low end, making lines like “Forsake your god, worship the priest” sound utterly satanic. ... "Semen Priest is a band that wears many different masks aside from just the strange name mask. They have beats for days, mixed with that whole experimental electronic vibe, sure, but there is something much more here. It’s not quite synth wave or even seapunk, so I was thinking perhaps vaporwave but that might not be right either. I can hear these Oriental tones coming in at times, and it reminds me of something that you might hear playing in a Chinese buffet.And then all at once, it hits me like a ton of bricks… or maybe just a couple of hundred pounds of bricks.
