Galga by Baeddel

I was swathed in shadow
Summer had come to burn us alive

Bæddel is an old word for the transfeminine abject, from which the adjective ‘bad’ is possibly derived. A reclamation of the disavowed is pivotal to this project.

In pursuit of remembering a lost lineage – not as reconstruction, but the maintenance of a course into the future encrypted in the past – Galga patches together a model of Gothic indigeneity bastardized by bass music: a crooked path that weaves between the two in liminality.

The real efficiency of sound, not in a political but an eschatological sense, is deeply intertwined with the evocation of horror — not mundane fear, but the nocturnal brilliance of dread which pervades pagan customs, and forecloses the category of supernatural insofar as nature is seen continuously exceeding itself.
