Lyrics
I saw one of them there at the carnival
with a left arm slightly bruised by tattoos,
breaking the news.
It was February 27th.
Elastic detectives detecting,
doing their best to help her evaporate.
I was scared of the fast rides.
The things I remembered:
• Shoe prints in the iron gray snow.
• Mint-scented flowers.
• Idiot-eyed dolls.
• Little white rose petals on moldy carpet
before it all evaporated.
I was scared of the fast rides.
Paper petals and sugar-coated stilettos.
She wore white silk in February.
A column of blood evacuated her nose
as if from the puncture of a Mountain Dew can,
then culled all the other girls who held out their hands,
coated in stolen chap-stick.
I rehearsed kissing a seizure and a cancer
while distracting myself with a desktop computer.
I saw on the news that someone found a left arm down by the ferris wheel,
mangled by the umbrella machine,
evaporating.
