Conditional Heart by Aonair

Opening with the synth sounds of a yamaha E-piano that lived in a New York apartment, where Aonair spent most of his time this year writing, it’s a classic “throw your hands in the air 80s synth pop banger” featuring his iconic and powerful yet dreamy vocals. Co-produced by Aonair, Dylan Lynch and Adam O'Regan of Choice Prize nominated Soda Blonde, the track was recorded at The Clinic Dublin. It’s a feel-good banger featuring epic guitar solos, huge drums and an anthemic call and response chorus.

“Musically this song is inspired by big 80s bands such as Starship and Go West but also modern artists like Carley Rae Jepsen and The 1975, who take that retro sound but add modern production and pop sensibilities to it, making it seem familiar but also new.

Thematically it is a song about the importance of compromise in a relationship. If we set ourselves up with strict or stringent conditions in which we allow ourselves to love or be loved, then we're setting ourselves up for failure“
