Anton Franc's sound reflects the wanderlust and isolation that drew two city slickers together in the most unlikely of locations. This moderately handsome Australian musical duo was formed at the beginning of 2010, when Joshua Bowyer and Jamie Kuzich found themselves thrust into the remote Kimberley region of far north-west Australia under the guise of 5th year medical school. Within 2 weeks of arrival, the pair found their musical journeys colliding and in this seemingly barren environment, they discovered a hidden beauty, a shared love of the song and a desire to explore new musical directions.
After a day’s attempt at barramundi fishing, they turned to their instruments in an attempt to compensate for their failures as fishermen. Little did they know that this “quick jam” would turn into a 4-day writing and recording session that the pair opted to skip class in favor of. From these sessions emerged “Letting Go” - a beautiful song grounded in honest reflection and coloured with dreamy arpeggios. It was chosen by the pair to be the first single from the EP and later became a finalist for the 2010 WAM Song of the Year contest, earned its spot on various compilations around the world, became the soundtrack of 2 major European advertising campaigns and continues to receive regular airplay in Australia.
In late 2011, they returned to the Kimberley to produce an epic, playful and beautiful video clip with some of Perth's finest creative minds on board to reflect the birth of Anton Franc.
The debut self-titled EP featuring "Letting go" and 2011 WAM song of the year nominee "Memo", will be released online via iTunes & Bandcamp on November 7th.
