The EP ‘Gold’ by Ani Even is a story of self-destruction, reconstitution and future self.
‘Coping’ relates to a classic coping mechanism when tragedy occurs. Alcohol is a classic way of forgetting and numbing the pain, not necessarily the best. Flute and vocal samples complement this short intro to the EP.
The track ‘Gold’ is a musical desire to become better after cataclysmic separation. A want and wish to cast yourself in a new mould. The track is comprised of throbbing synths, heavy bass and vocal samples which jitter in your peripheral space. A handshake between something ancient and industrial techno.
‘Future’ derives samples from cigar factories in Belgium combined with vocal lullaby’s, to create a spherical, danceable track with industrious power all the way through. A boy speaking of what the future is, with naive optimism, ends the track and the EP with a positive vibe, which could inspire the listener towards a optimistic perspective.
Aks og hav og tornekrat, to djævlebørn leger tag-fat, kom nat kom ild kom vand kom med, usete verdens kærlighed. En vinterdrøm, et mareridt, nu lyden af små djævleskridt.
