Like This from Like This by Andy Getch
I am originally from western PA, very near Punxsutawney, the site of one of the more famous annual Groundhog Day celebrations. Each February Album Writing Month (FAWM) since 2012, I have done a song based on Groundhog Day. The last few years I have used a current newspaper article to keep it fresh. A week before the FAWM challenge started I happened to meet the mother of this reporter a few days ago and I told her about my annual song cycle. The song is from the point of view of the groundhog, based loosely on this article, and where the muse went from there.

I started with a drum loop, added bass, guitar, vocals and percussion. When I saw the picture and read that the first thing groundhogs do when coming out of hibernation is seek a mate, then off I went.
