Oh Mother by Andrea Superstein

This album is the culmination of my conversations with close to 100 mothers about their lived experience. It highlights the undertold yet very real stories that mothers face and the profound impact motherhood has on our lives. I hope this offering gives all people a greater understanding and appreciation of the struggles and joys of parenting, providing an opportunity for all of us to feel connected in a more honest way.

Ultimately this album is about love.

My heartfelt gratitude to all the mothers who shared their stories and entrusted me to tell them, even when it was difficult. To the incredible musicians and creative artists (many of whom are also mothers) who gave so much of themselves to this project. I thank PHT Creative Hub and all of the funders who supported this project in its many stages. Oh Mother has also been transformed into a multimedia stage show.

Andrea Superstein is a Vancouver based singer-songwriter. She began her career in musical theatre, where she was introduced to the jazz standards of the Great American Songbook. She took a shining to the sweet harmonies of 50's doo wop, the ethos of 60's folk and the driving rhythms of early soul. These are the key elements that make up her unique approach to songwriting and performance.
