Do you know what it’s like to be alone in a crowd? Sometimes the rush of bodies moving past almost connects with some sense of placement, but the illusion is only temporary as the attachments fail as soon as they take hold. There’s an intimacy that takes you into the inner workings of your perception only to abandon you there without a map or a sign pointing the way out. Everyone seems to know what to do and where to go except you. They move about and appear to have a sense of direction and purpose in their course only to crash into random obstacles thrown into view at the last moment. If there were a way to navigate these treacherous waters, it might serve to capitalize on their currents. Still, there’s nothing saying you can’t fake it in the end and who’s to judge you against their own deceptions? It can only comfort you to see the lost landscapes of all the others wandering in their confusion.
