This album consists of 2 tracks performed live in one take and inspired by the god Poseidon, god of the sea and his wife Amphitrite, queen of the sea.
The two synthesizers used on this represent the East Coast school of subtractive synthesis in the form of the Syntrx II and the West Coast school of additive synthesis in the form of the Buchla 200t and I hope demonstrate that whatever synthesiser instrument is used, there is no real coastal divide.
Poseidon was performed live in my studio on my Syntrx II Synthesiser using its own on board effects and extensive ring modulation.
The Syntrx II is a synthesiser inspired by the EMS AKS suitcase synthesiser and VCS3 synthesiser but is a modern version with much more functionality built in. It has 3 variable waveform oscillators and a high and lowpass filter working in series.
Amphitrite was from my live performance with the Coastal Electronauts at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury, for International Drone Day in May 2025. It was performed on a Buchla 200t system incorporating a Make Noise Spectraphon module. I also used an Arturia digital Minifreak synthesiser for playback of samples and some additional sequencing.
