Lyrics
Those things you fear as if they harbour doom
May never ever even happen.
For sure they haven't happened yet.
Don't be miserable ahead of time.
Some things torment us much more than they should
and some of them torment us sooner.
And some of them shouldn't do so at all.
We add the pain, we get ahead of it.
And If you've never really lost badly,
if you've never seen you own blood,
heard your teeth crunch when the fist struck hard
then you can't bring boldness to the match.
If you had to yield but never did in spirit,
rising fiercely after falling.
You'll go into contests with strong hope.
Though fortune often had the upper hand
but you never did surrender, standing
now more boldly on your feet again.
For courage increases when it meets a challenge.
Go at it again. Go and fight.
We are tormented by things of the past
or by things to come or both.
But in the present use this plan
to quiet down lingering anxieties:
if your body is free and healthy
and you're not in pain from injury
then we can wait and see quietly
at least today is not an issue.
And If you've never really lost badly,
if you've never seen you own blood,
heard your teeth crunch when the fist struck hard
then you can't bring boldness to the match.
If you had to yield but never did in spirit,
rising fiercely after falling.
You'll go into contests with strong hope.
Though fortune often had the upper hand
but you never did surrender, standing
now more boldly on your feet again.
For courage increases when it meets a challenge.
Go at it again. Go and fight.
Some evil is probable for the future;
it surely isn't proven right off.
How many unexpected things have happened?
How many expectations never happen at all?
But even if it is to come, what good
does it do to anticipate grief?
You will grieve soon enough, when it comes;
meanwhile though, allow yourself some relief.
And If you've never really lost badly,
if you've never seen you own blood,
heard your teeth crunch when the fist struck hard
then you can't bring boldness to the match.
If you had to yield but never did in spirit,
rising fiercely after falling.
You'll go into contests with strong hope.
Though fortune often had the upper hand
but you never did surrender, standing
now more boldly on your feet again.
For courage increases when it meets a challenge.
Go at it again. Go and fight.
