Microhumans by Ali Wade
Ali Wade’s debut album Geomorphology caught ears with its distinctive blend of melody and dissonance, sounding both cyclical and evolutionary within its own cocooned mind-space. Microhumans, his follow-up being released on Frequency Domain, takes this musical perspective much deeper into a world of tensile contemplation and melancholia.
The tracks here seem to emerge from past decades of reflective music; with trailing tendrils of 70’s progressive sonics, 80’s synth pop atmosphere and 90’s electronica melodies. However, the lasting effect on the listener is more futuristic, evoking eerie science fiction vistas and speculative narratives.
