And you fail in your search for the absent fire
That was lost many years before your search had begun
And you rise for a few short hours, drinking steadily
But the fall will far outweigh the meagre heights you will attain
At the crowded bar

And you wind up crashing like a fuel-drained plane
On a mountainside

And she waits by the phone, she’s petrified
She has spoken to her family and her friends in trepidation
Then she stands, puts her coat around her trembling shoulders
And she goes out into darkness and to danger on this night
In search of you

And she finds you broken like a torn-up train
On a final ride

Oooh, oooh

And you fail
As you rise
And you fall

And you wind up crashing like a fuel-drained plane
On a mountainside
