Extra Wild by Ali Angel

I wrote Extra Wild in 2021 about the sweetness, innocence and excitement of a budding relationship. I was inspired by some of my favorite Motown artists (Jr. Walker & The All Stars, Brenton Wood) to write a soulful retro-pop tune that had that nostalgic, Motown feel in terms of chord progression and playful, straightforward lyrics with fun metaphors. From the playful, classic dueting solo between the sax and trumpet to the dreamy glockenspiel and wurlitzer, Extra Wild stands out as a perfect new addition to the retro-soul niche of music that is trending with its own significant following and space in the modern music world. The record is dreamy and optimistic and the production is rich with texture and color, making it a wonderful song for feel good/soulful/cooking in the kitchen and hitting the road playlists.
