All Centre’s first release of 2020 is a two track E.P from Alexis. Raised in Texas but currently residing in South London her debut release consists of two tracks that are geared towards dancefloors of all sizes.
Lead track, “Refractions” kicks off with weighty subs and skittish drum lines which are soon joined by breathy percussion and marching snares. The body of the track is a woozy broken beat punctuated with claps and introspective vocal chops. As the track unfolds further effects are introduced, clouding the stereo field and contributing to the hazy mist that envelopes Alexis’s emergent dark production style.
B-side “Tesseract” continues with the dark sound palette established on Refractions whilst introducing a 4x4 kick. The track begins with swatches of metallic synths anchoring around the kick drum whilst a haunting synth jumps between octaves. The main motifs carefully develop over repetitions whilst extra percussion gradually joins to keep the track moving.
Refractions is available across all platforms the 31st of January.
