i feel like a deer in the headlights of hatred
sew it up in a suture
and put the new blood to bed
not to be antinatalist
but tomorrow doesn't exist
this is the sound of decay
like a tsunami that will sweep us away

the promised space age turned to rot
shooting stars i've come to resent
what can't be saved must be bought
our frail voices and skinny limbs
can't ever match their deafening hymns
i don't mean to despair
