It is with profound excitement that I present the next release on Afterhours, “being” by Chicago producer Akabou. This album exists in a world that I try to live in most of the time. Various intersections of dub techno and ambient are present, with an emphasis on feeling & atmosphere.. the work of someone who knows how to set the mood. Akabou’s production techniques stand out in their color, with meticulously programmed drums and soaring synth lines taking the front stage. For a clear day, or a foggy night - a mindset rather than a punchline. If you look at life as a collection of moments, you’ll hear and see things you hadn’t before.
