A thousand rings marked his age
As he stood like a sentinel in one place
Almost forever
Now the chainsaw roars and he falls to the ground
And he startles the birds for miles around
As a man yells, “Timber!”
No more forever
Yellow and black buzz through the air
Spreading life everywhere
So many flowers
Now man and his greed are killing the bees
When they’re gone, who will spread the seeds?
All they want is power
But where are the flowers?

A symbol of life hung glowing in the sky
And its rays encouraged us all to rise

And it parches the land and wilts the corn

There’s a masterpiece under the sea
A museum of beauty for you and me
Such amazing colors
Now we dirty the ocean and we overreach
And we bleach the reefs like thoughtless thieves
And the world gets duller

At the age of 39, Aaron Smith took his old guitar out of the closet after 15 years, turned the skills he'd learned as a novelist toward lyric writing, learned to sing, and wrote and recorded his first EP, "Red Wolf Mist" over the course of the years 2016 to 2019.
