Performed live in one take on SP-404A, no further editing aside from a bit of limiting

There are samples from senior-year-of-high-school marching band performances, random shit I put in my voice memos, and so on, provided I was able to put it into the builtin mic somehow

I lost track of what the fuck I was doing about 22 minutes in and started fucking around but that's actually like one of the coolest segments so whatever

If you want a secret to improvisation it's to keep it rolling even if you think what you're recording is utterly braindead; also, always record the improvisation in full because if you don't record it you are setting fire to your methodology and rendering a Library of Alexandria accessible only to yourself permanently opaque, so document the process even if it never sees the goddamn light of day or night or indoor fluorescent lights or anything

A comprehensive list of artists and specific works I thought about while preparing the material and then performing it: chushi, NYKDLN, DJ Boboss and in particular his Boiler Room set wherein he kills a whole crowd by playing unmixed African pop cuts at a low volume off of YouTube on his phone into a homemade deck and occasionally adding DC offsets in time with the music (best shit ever by the way), James Ferraro, Spencer Clark, Vektroid, Donor (the one who made an album called Adele), Robin Burnett of INTERNET CLUB fame, dakim

The entire thing takes up only two banks of SP-404 samples by the way (with one or two extraneous samples briefly inserted from another existing bank)

If you despise music like this, better yet music in general, then good. You absolutely should because art is to some extent suffering, a fact I have alternately affirmed and denied depending on my degree of overall anxiety in the past, but as the shits you give about that suffering start plummeting in number it becomes easier and easier to acknowledge your underlyingly chuuni pursuit of expression - not even valuable expression per se - and delude yourself into thinking a system of opinion and reason emerges from your discography, and the logical and/or illogical conclusion of reason is direct, half-conscious transcription of idea to abstraction, which often results in complete periodic dissociation of the work from what can be conventionally considered "music," including an album - ǝdɐʇ uo sƃuᴉssǝlq by the aforementioned NYKDLN - of primarily layered nature recordings with occasional incidental music which was, by all accounts, indistinguishable from a pure environment about two thirds of the time due to the ambiguity between purposeful modification and direct source transclusion, which should scare me theoretically but it doesn't and is rather exhilarating instead on account of its living proof that truly unique art can exist, but that no one who tries to make unique art actually makes any. Consider yourself doomed to failure, albeit pleasantly so, if you prefer to remain ignorant to my revelations, for they are anything but prophecy in a world which will die out within a century due to willful human ignorance of oncoming environmental catastrophe stemming from the excess having been imposed onto us all. Just carry on with your day; even if you don't acknowledge it, much less accept it, your work is as insignificant as mine.
